Big Bold Sun, Canada's newest music company,
has opened its doors with a focus on developing long-term
artist development. Headed by founder and award
winning A&R man, Mike Roth, Big Bold Sun has announced
the launch of the company's search for great and unique
Canadian talent.
"Big Bold Sun will concentrate
on 3 key areas; artist discovery, development and direction," say's
Roth. " With major labels
downsizing and the role of A & R departments changing,
an artist needs to be prepared more than ever before they
go to a record company if they want to establish a long
term career ".
Mike Roth has a well-earned
reputation for discovering and nurturing world-class
Canadian artists from his 13 years heading A&R
for Sony Music Canada. Artists he has discovered and/or
helped develop include Our Lady Peace, Chantal Kreviazuk,
Amanda Marshall, Philosopher Kings, Prozzak, Junkhouse,
Hemingway Corner, Edwin, Adam Gregory, Jarvis Church,
Kyprios and Liam Titcomb. Mike won Producer of the Year in the 2006 Canadian Folk Music Awards.
